<image:caption>Shiatsu, a Japanese word meaning "finger pressure", is a hands-on massage technique used both as a compliment to conventional medicine and as a preventative / alternative therapy. Practiced for centuries in Japan as a traditional healing art, Shiatsu is used to treat chronic pain and ailments, while promoting relaxation and overall well-being. It enhances the body’s natural healing ability and can prevent the progression of disease. Photo Credit: Kasha Sequoia Slavner</image:caption>

<image:title>Shiatsu</image:title>
<image:caption>Shiatsu proposes that our vital energy, known as "Chi" (or "Ki") moves through the body along well defined passageways called meridians. Balance of the meridians is considered to be essential for health and vitality. By applying rhythmic pressure (using fingers, hands, elbows and even knees) on specific points of the meridians for three to ten seconds at a time, Shiatsu massage is meant to alleviate blockages within the body and promote the natural flow of energy. When a person’s vital energy stops flowing freely, many symptoms of ill health may develop. Shiatsu has been found exceptionally effective for stress-reduction, reducing fatigue and alleviating a wide spectrum of symptoms such as: back pain, shoulder & neck problems, headaches, constipation or other digestive conditions, insomnia etc. Shiatsu is used to treat chronic pain and ailments, enhancing the body’s natural healing ability. <image:title>Trager</image:title>
<image:caption>Trager enhances awareness of your body by entraining your nervous system to the experience of pleasurable sensations; engaging the brain’s neuroplasticity. Neuroplasticity is the brain’s ability to modify, change, and adapt both structure and function in response to experience. Learn to inhabit your body in a gentler way by experiencing this exquisite quality of touch. Trager reminds you how it feels when you can pause and tune in to your self, when you feel supported, when you are relaxed and can let go… of tension, of pain, of patterns of unconscious holding. Trager is deeply transformative... moving an overloaded mind and body into a place of quiet and peace. Trager empowers you to begin to affect the present moment by noticing your own tensions and then actively changing the way your body feels. <image:title>Trager</image:title>
<image:caption>Trager is an approach to movement education and mind/body integration. Trager uses gentle, supportive touch and rhythmic movements to free the body from restrictive movement patterns, to restore greater functionality and to allow you to learn to let go of pain and tension. Reconnect with your inherent fluidity. The gentle waves of movement that you experience during your session (through the rocking, lengthening, swinging, shimmering, rolling and cradling of the body), lull the nervous system into releasing long-held tensions and restrictions. You are encouraged to explore and incorporate comfortable, playful movements, to help you to retain these pleasant sensations, and create new patterns. Developing a self-care practice in your daily life (even for only one minute at a time), can have a profound effect, unwinding those (k)nots that build up without our noticing.</image:caption>
